The Coachella Valley Housing Coalition has committed itself to assisting its families in becoming active participants in the community. CVHC has partnered with the County of Riverside, local unified school districts and other non-profits to develop diverse, comprehensive community service programs. These programs have proven to develop family self-sufficiency and empowerment in a healthy, positive and supportive community environment.
After-School Kids Clubs
CVHC has developed ten After-School Kids Clubs to help school-age residents with their homework, reading and social enrichment. The Clubs provide youth with a safe, supportive environment during after-school hours when most parents are working. The Kids Clubs are located at:
All after school Kids Clubs, with the exception of Casitas del Valle, is operated by YMCA of the Desert and is open Monday-Friday from 3.00-6:00PM. Casitas del Valle are operated by YMCA of Riverside staff and are open Monday-Friday from 3:30-6:30 PM during the school year, and from 1-4 PM during the summer.
Child Development Centers
CVHC has built eight Child Development Centers to accommodate children ages 2 to 5 years. The centers provide children with comprehensive childcare in a nurturing, educational environment, and give parents peace of mind while at work. The Child Development Centers are located at:

CVHC provides its residents with a variety of educational and fun programs designed to serve the needs of residents of all ages. These include:
Mariachi Band Classes
Local area youth ages 7-18 perform at area cultural events and learn to play traditional Mariachi instruments such as trumpets, violins, guitars and guitarrons. The group meets twice a week at Las Palmeras Estates in Coachella.
CVHC offers ESL/Citizenship classes at Paseo de los Heroes Mobile Home Park in Mecca. The instructors utilize both computer-based and manual-based curriculum to teach residents the English knowledge they will need to take the United States Citizenship test and become Naturalized Citizens. Participants also learn conversational Spanish invaluable for day to day conversations. CVHC also partners with the Palm Springs Adult School at Coyote Run in Palm Springs to offer ESL classes.
